Explanation

The Self-Respect Movement was initiated by E. V. Ramaswamy Naicker (Periyar) in Tamil Nadu in 1925 as a radical movement against caste hierarchy, Brahminical orthodoxy and religious superstition. B. R. Ambedkar led the Dalit movement separately, Jyotiba Phule's Satyashodhak Samaj was earlier and Maharashtrian, and Nehru was not associated with this movement.
