Explanation

The electromagnetic spectrum spans gamma rays to radio waves, but the human eye detects only the narrow band of roughly 400-700 nm, which we perceive as light (VIBGYOR). Infrared, microwaves and radio waves lie outside this visible range. Hence the visible portion is simply light.
