Plastic pollution is emerging as a serious environmental threat to India. Discuss the various mitigation measures and the government's initiatives in this regard.

En India ranks very high on the plastic waste management index - at about (95-53) as released by Conservation International. Various mitigation measures have been promoted to address the same: Mitigation Measures for addressing plastic pollution: (1) Environmental nudges - Adoption of wooden cut tery, clearness single-use plastic. (2) Deploying no-plastic zones - Kedaikand (J&J), Sikkim etc - to at tourist places. Containment initiatives for same: (1) Plastic waste management rules - Prohibits, multiple amendments. (2) Ensured EPR for producers, ex packages, imported and brand owners, functionality. (3) CPCB based registration for plastic pollution. (4) Banning of 4 types: Single-use plastic, MU-Wagers plastic etc. However, challenges persist: (1) Fraudulent certificates posted on CPCB offering claim veracity. (2) CSE study - Disputed claims of government - only at 12t. Thus, plastic waste management is imperative, especially due to extent, Opubat, mainstream information in brain and foetus also.
