World Trade Organisation (WTO) was formed with the objective of imparting a long term objective but trade and food security; however, the objective has been marred by several factors. Comment.

WTO was seen result of an MTN rounds. It was formed to boost trade and ensure fruit between the countries. Positives of WTO: (1) Increase in international trade. (2) Provides a platform to discuss various issues. (3) Has helped in resolution of disputes between various countries. (4) Has helped formed various supply chain for perishable items. Challenges: (1) Agreement on agriculture calls for reduction commitment on various subsidies --> a cause for split

between developed and developing countries. (2) Various export restrictions by the countries means for domestic security concerns --> a case for split between developed and developing countries. (3) As vacancy in WTO --> ineffective governance removal. (4) IPR related issue is recently in vaccine development. (5) International obligation vis-a-vis domestic requirement approach. India has pushed for moving agricultural subsidies in green for, a farmers are dependent on government for MSP, seed availability etc. Need is for global cooperation, vacancy filing and coordination between developed and developing countries to fight SDI and SDG.
