Food parks are a platform for food processing in India. Through Mega food park scheme, government is providing plug and play facility to food processor. Role of food parks in empowering agri : 1) Provide job opportunities through facility rural unemployment of O&M employ MoSPI. 2) Reduce food wastage by converting food into processed varieties & 2000 & waste could be tackled (UPHET study). 3) Boost farmers income - provide better price for their crops. 4) Boost to agriculture export => earning foreign exchange. 5) Infrastructure creation like cold chain which can be used to store excess food/crops.

6Add to sign GVA => @ 10% contribute to sign GVA. 7) Check distress migration from rural areas by providing jobs. 8) Reduce burden on government for agriculture subsidy by making agriculture remunerative. 9) Incentive shift away from wheat-rice system by creating value chains to other crops. 10) Help in overall rural development through development of other infrastructure eg roads. Mega food park need to be further pushed through facilitative audit, ease of doing business and nurturing agribusiness.
