India has become 5th to 6th largest economy to the 4th largest economy, globally in the past decade with rise in per capita income as well. Factors that have contributed to inclusive economic growth: (1) Increase in employment and opportunities to people (2) Labour force participation ratio LFPR has increased from 40% (in 2015) to 60% in urban areas. Female LFPR increased from 23% to 41%. (3) Women empowerment, need to women's work and contribution to economy (4) Help to the manufacturing sector specifically huge (Mudra Loan) (5) Increase in capital formation and in investments
Challenges / limitations: (1) Stagnant nature of hamstring scale with just 40% to 48% (uses labour intensive sector) (2) Huge income inequality: top 1% earns 20.7% comes of national income while bottom 50% earns 3.5%, own 23% and top 0.01% own 16% Way forward: We need inclusive growth (not trickle down approach), need for the hour is skill development and employment opportunity.
