India is the largest consumer of fertiliser in world where the bulk of it is heavily subsidised by government. Issues related to fertiliser subsidy: Heavy burden on exchequer, leakage of subsidy, Urea included/sheared N.P.K. sation (6:4:14:2), Illegal smuggling and diversion of subsidised fertilisers into industry.

Need for reform in there it: The subsidy is heavily inclined towards urea and it might be loss to be made sure proper application of fester is done scientifically. This can be done with the triple-encrustation of nutrient based subsidy in urea. The issue of leakage shall be taken cognisance of through the use of P.O.S machines. The subsidy has been one of the main as non-capital revenue-expenditure. The fertilise subsidy shall be rationalised and the use of technology like texting of Aadhar along with quantified quota allotment can prove useful in long run.
