India's 45% of labour force and 17-18% of GDP is dependent on agriculture and inclusion of new technologis like agrovolatils can be game change. Role of Agrovolatile in farming: (1) Reduce dependance on electricity for irrigation. (2) Power-production can boost the area under irrigations (as say, is only irrigated). (3) Income-generation by selling of the extra power (PM KUSUM). (4) Promotes precision agriculture as it can reduce wastage of water. (5) Reduce dependance on coal based electricity (buffer for India's Panchamet PLEge). Net issues are there: (1) Awareness among farmers sugad, we of technology is minimum. (2) May exploit ground water reserve due to incident availability of electricity. (3) Seasonal nature of sunlight may impact growth. (4) High Cost of Installation in farms eg Small farmers (85% of India) may not afford it. Thus, there is need of government push for agrovolatile to double farmers income (Ashok Dalai Committee).
