India's demographic dividend is about to reach 57 years, with nearly 54% of population under 30 years, but only 57% of the population having formal skill training. 5Market diversification => Eg: female employment in IPI. 6) capitalization on 4th Industrial Revolution => nearly 90% of jobs are under threat due to AI. Initiatives for SKILL development: 1) PM- Kaushal Vikas Yojana -50 is training in vocational skills use digital tech, coding, financial markets etc. 2) Recognition of prior learning 3) National skill development vision - aims to train 400 million youth by 2030. 4) PM- Vishwakarma Yojana => training kits to teach on aspire to upskill themselves, with ₹500 daily stipend. 5) Establishment of vocational course on robotics, AI etc. Need for Reforms: 1) Skill mapping and census 2) Increased mobility between higher education and skill training. 3) Increasing employability => only 45% (India skills report). Thus, for India to become the skill capital of the world, will training is an imperative.
