Main Body

E-governance refers to the application of ICT in governance and digitising the functions of service delivery and grievance redressal. Efficiency: 1) Reduces the resources required for governance => possibilise. 2) Reduces corruption and mis-utilisation of funds => reduces human interface eg: MyGov platform. 3) Reduces bureaucratic delays and improves efficiency eg: live tracking of file movement. Accessibility: 1) Delivers services to remote areas => 'Antodyadya' model of development eg: SWAYAM 9, DIKSHA platforms for humble collation. 2) Digitised storage of beneficiaries => avoids human error. 3) Digital penetration through e-gov has reduced distance between community and governance eg: live councils, telemedicine etc.

Inclusivity: 1) Targets the minority and vulnerable population eg: CoWIN's immunization of UWTIN women. 2) Helps in grievance redressal of the weaker sections eg: CPGRAMS. 3) Removes scope for political biases in service delivery. Therefore, effective e-governance has the potential to make governance democratic and clean.
