The Finance Bill, 2017 introduced Electoral Bond scheme, wherein the political funding is done through promissory notes, media designated banks SBT. Electoral bonds: Double edged sword Positives: 1) As per ADR Report, 69% of political funding came from unknown sources => electoral bonds bring in transparency through bonds being in Ramapuram. 2) Prevents misuse – due to limited window of maturity (15 days). 3) Protects anonymity – prevents post poll awards/ment by political opponents. 4) The political parties need to submit detailed expenditure report => political accountability.
