Critically examine the functioning of National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) as an apex institution entrusted with the protection of human rights in the country.
Main Body
NHRC constituted under NHRACT 1993 to complement indian commitment under UDHR, 1948. => Recently GHTAI (Global HR audit Institute) withheld NHRCs accreditation. Functioning of NHRC:- (1) Role in investigation and implementation of rights of vulnerable section. => E.g:- i rights to jails, police stations. (2) Penal case of violation actions. => Fox conit. 2007 requiring women discrimination => Deemed directions. (3) Role in child care, against child labour
