Main Body

In my opinion, companies indulging in social responsibilities is not anti-ethical to their core interests & production responsibilities as - (1) they garner social trust which benefits their economic interests (e.g. TATA, Infosys etc.) (2) Social endeavors provide positive publicitygood for business (3) attracts social oriented investments (e.g. green investment) As per Gandhi ji, commerce without morality is a sin. So businesses need to balance their economic interests with social responsibilities. As this context, Corporate Social Responsibility holds value as - (1) Compensate to negative externalities like pollution, waste etc. (2) Social infrastructure like educational & health
