Evaluate the potential of biomanufacturing and bio-foundry in driving India's future towards a sustainable green economy.

India has a target of carbon neutrality by 2070 as a part of its Panchamrit targets. Potential of biomanufacturing and bio-foundry: (1) Reduce carbon footprint - eg. bio-based fertilisers leading to reduction in methane emissions. (2) Sustainable manufacturing - (1) Organic product promotion - (2) Waste decomposition (cellular composting) - (3) Sector-specific carbon emission reduction - eg. green shipping (2030), electric vehicles. Havvel challenges persist: (1) Green investment crunch (2) Issue of green technology (3) Issue of greenwashing Way forward: (1) Replicate best practices (eg. microbes-based ocean cleaning) (2) Bio-plastics and waste reduction strategies (2) Green credit in biomanufacturing. This will help achieving SDG-7 and small transition to carbon neutrality.
