Ecological importance: 1) They are home to rich biodiversity of flora & fauna 2) Wet & dry semi-evergreen forest of Deccan forest vegetation 3) Various endemic flora & fauna spines lean of high ecological significance 4) Wild sandle in firinpati hills 5) Bangalore for rainfall during north east monsoon during winters and Aridid & Tamil Nadu => Role in hydro logical cycle 6) Various national ports coverer Tiger reserve, biodiversity heritage site are located here 7) Mangrove & lagoons are located on western side of eastern ghats 8) Source of various centring rivers => Nagavalli river Therefore, Eastern ghats must be equally recognized & protected as western ghats.
