Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are emerging as vehicles of socio-economic transformation in rural India. Examine the role of government in scaling their reach and effectiveness.

There are over 1.2 crore SHGs in India with 89% all women SHGs as per economic survey. This has made SHGs an instrument of socio-economic transformation.
