Further steps required • Election Commission should be given power to derecognise the political parties for unethical activities • Legal mandate to Model Code of Conduct and power to EC to enforce it. • Pone of EC in lieu instances of hate speech, fomenting communal tensions • Election Commission should be given power of disqualification under Anti-defection law. • SC should direct that political parties disclose their electoral contribution through elected bonds to election commission. As these steps can go a long way in ensuring fair and upholding democratic values.
