India has been ranked 107th in Global Hunger Index 2022. India has alarming high rates of child malnutrition by cities stunting -37%, child wasting at around 20% (NFHS-5). Nutrition specific interventions - aiming at providing nutrition to children, mothers in form of food. Examples: ICDS Anganwadi, PDS, food fortification. Nutrition-sensitive interventions - which aims at addressing nutrition through indirect means. Small Ruminant Husbandry, PM Jarry Sukshma Yojana, & iron-fortified wheat Anemia under Bharat. Need for convergence: 4) Ensure addressing malnutrition in comprehensive & holistic manner 4) Addressing different forms of malnutrition - underweight, overweight 4) More agency at local level with intersecting like salt addition 4) POSHAN mission of government is aiming out this convergence to address malnutrition in comprehensive manner.

MNREGA was an instrumental step in realizing the right of livelihood by giving guaranteed 100 days of employment to any adult member in rural areas. Typology of rural poverty alleviation: 1) Ensuring adequate income source in times of crises by during lean season 2) Additional source of income in times of unstructured crisis 3) Women empowerment by engaging women labor 4) Community asset development like ponds, agricultural productivity, more income 5) MNREGA - victim of fiscal austerity 6) 1) Reduced allocation of funds one crores Due to lack of funds - delay in payments, Almost beneficiaries, leakages and corruption, Make agency to local officials - exploit the ignorance of villages. Demand based scheme - more fund requiredgovernment will allocate. 4) Use of DBT to reduce leakage. 4) Use of geospatial to avoid corruption 4) Living unemployment allowance if work is not given. MNREGA is truly inspirations for poverty alleviation, but we need to focus on skill building & generating productive employment.
