The question of gender equality is central to the debate on Uniform Civil Code. In this light what are the challenges in reconciling UCC with gender equality as enshrined in the constitution?

Uniform civil code is a set of personal laws pertaining to issues like Marriage, Adoption, Inheritance, Divorce, Maintenance. (Article 44) of the constitution prescribes that state shall endeavour to implement Uniform Civil Code.
