In India there are 7 National parties and 52 State parties (2019, ADR). Political parties are association which try to capture power through Constitutional means. Paradoxes & Contradictions: (1) Inner party democracy: It is thriving in India. No election within party. e.g: BTF (2) Party fission/fusion: Only few member control the whole party giving less voice to ground level workers (3) Non transparent funding: As per RPA 1951, there is no limit on candidate expenditure but no such limit as party expenditure (4) Charismatic leadership: Whole party survives due to few leaders e.g: Indian gaurd, N. Modi, etc (5) One party dominant system: At National level not having strong opposition. (6) Invoking caste, religion to garner support affecting National integration (Way forward): NCRWC (1) Bill's inbuilt party democracy laws to funding: Party e.g: Basic opinion regulate stopping expelled from further holding, Inbuilt PM post by his own (And ARC) might also note EJ Political parties are most important yet highly unregulated entity in India.
