Article 76 of Constitution provides for appointment of Attorney General of India by President. Reform duties of Legal Character determined by President: Chief law offices of GOI. Powers: Advises the govt. on legal matters. Discharge: Jurisdiction as confined by law or Constitution. President has assigned following duties on AGI: (1) Appeal on behalf of Government in all cases in Supreme Court of India. (2) Appear in High Courts for the Government. (3) Represent Government is all cases in Supreme Court of India.
