In light of the increased intensity, frequency and duration of heat waves in the last decade, when do time has come to include 'heat waves' as a notified disaster under the Disaster Management Act, 2005?

IPCC (GIM Assessment Report) August 2023 suggests that global temperature rise has crossed 1.1°C from pre-industrial level and will reach 1.9°C by end of century. All this has led to increased frequency, intensity and duration of heat waves which refers to sudden rise in temperature of a region from normal average temperature. Benefits of inclusion of 'heat waves' as a notified disaster under Disaster Management Act, 2005: (1) It will lead to formulation of national level guidelines by NDMA to handle heat waves.
