What are the principles behind the working of Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV)? Explain the significance and potential benefits of use of RLVs in India's space commerce.

Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO has recently tested Pushpur, India's indigenously developed Reusable Launch Vehicle - Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD). Principles behind working of RLV: (1) RLV aims to reuse the lower stages of rocket for future missions along with engine. (2) When the rocket is fired, part of its mass is detached to Propel rocket further. (3) The solid stage of the rocket in normal launches was dropped in to the ocean and remain unused.
4In RLV technology, the solid stage along with the engine is retrieved back for reuse in future missions. Significance and Potential Benefits (1) Lowering the cost per launch of each mission. (2) Make Indian space programme more competitive in Price → attract global customers for launches. (3) India can take a leap frog in capturing global space launch market. (4) Technology transfer to private sector will give boost to private seed space startups. → (5) Promote R&D Other benefits: (6) attract more youth to India's ambitious space programme (7) enhance India's global image Thus, RLV-TD is a major technology loop for India's space programme.
