Identify and discuss the challenges hindering effective implementation of gender-sensitive policies and schemes in the country.

Women constitute 49.8% of India to population (2011 census) but get only 18% of income while men get 82% of income (as per Global Inequality Index). Better Pakhao best gender-sensitive schemes: (1) Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (2) Mamatva Yojana (3) Janani Suraksha Yojana (4) Sukanya Samriddhi (5) Hardev Indira etc. Challenges hindering such efforts in (1) Social: a patriarchal mindset limited afforded entrusted to women b Unequal educational effort. (2) Security challenge - molestation & harassment meant attempts kept women away from public space. ex Rel kar incident (3) Ineffective fund utilization a Unused Nirbhaya Fund. b Overlapping schemes reducing efficiency c AVAS, THL Nam vardan, Janani Suraksha have similar goal. Suggestion: (1) Social awareness on gender rights (via MYOP) (2) Create safe spaces other only women empowerment can help us become 'Vikshanvant'.
