Examine the scope and significance of the Supreme Court's advisory jurisdiction under Article 143 of the Constitution.

Recently, the President has referred the Supreme Court to advise on the issue of uniform civil code in supreme to the active units. Court of TN v/s Court of TN case (3 months)

Scope of Article 143 (ARTICLE 143(2)) is used by the President on aid and advise of PM and CoM. Significance: (1) to reduce load of litigation and future layoffs. (2) to get clarity on matters where there is discrepancy eg. Bermuda case 1960 (3) to undertake a joint effort by Court and Supreme Court to effectively discharge a issue. Article 143 is a instrument of harmonious cooperation between all Executive and Judiciary.
