Recently, we have seen a rise in conflict between the council of ministers and governors, thus again raising debate about role of governor. Governor as Saboteur or Sage: (1) Blame game: politics happening between governor and chief ministers over case like Assam rape case. (2) Punjab government in 2028 passed bill removing governor as vice chancellors for universities. (3) Alleged biased role of Maharashtra governor in Shivssena defection cases. (4) Illegal stay on bills of Kerala and Tamil Nadu governments by governors as held by respective cases in supreme court.
Conclusion
A understood & constitutionally moral role for governor is necessary for co-operative federalism as held by Punchhi Commission.
