There are 150 million mental healthcare patients in India as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. About 90% of these do not seek medical intervention for problem.

Mental Healthcare Act (2017):- (A) lauded for patient centricity:- 1. At wellness treatment for individual suffering from mental health issues. 2. It enables individual to end his/her life. It decriminalized suicide. 3. It prevents discrimination to citizen on basis of the race mental healthcare status.

4. No doctor/hospital facility can deny treatment to patient. 5. Psychiatrists equity to respond to mental healthcare is an issue used as expunge in constitution, nevertheless. (B) It is rigid, and issue:- 1. It has not been implemented by all the states, being state subject. 2. Enforcement of Act by the hospital, private institution is weak. 3. Issue of funds which in conflict with Indian Penal Code which criminalize suicide. 4. Lack of sufficient budgetary allocation and fraud towards unexpected registration. These issues need to be added so that there is equity and social justice for mental health patients.
