RPA 1951 and RPA 1959 are the magna carta of Indian democratic elections dealing with registration and disqualification of candidates and parties.
Procedure for registration of political parties:
(i) Governed by Election Commission [ECC]
(ii) The party must be registered entity.
(iii) Must fulfill ECC criteria:
Set no. of members
Have internal constitution
(Leaders, workers etc.)
(iv) They must fill the required forms.
(v) Generally, need support of registered votes for legitimacy.
