Procedure for Removal from VP's office

1Notice of removal of Vice President given with 14 days notice.

2Acceptance or denial of the motion by the presiding officer of Rajya Sabha other than the Vice President.

3Once the motion is accepted, removal will require special majority - effective majority of Rajya Sabha.

4Vice-President, though present in the proceedings, cannot vote in it.

5After passing of motions by the Rajya Sabha with Effective majority the motion is forwarded to Lok Sabha

6Lok Sabha must accept the motion with simple majority.

7After this, Vice-president stands removed from his past as well as the Chairmanship of Rajya Sabha.

This necessitates election of a new Vice-President in line of President and VicePresident Elections Act.
