Section 8A of the RPA 1951 provides a check on the corrupt practices of the candidates.
Significance of section 8A of RPA 1951:
(1) It provides the rules for the candidates to disclose their criminal antecedents.
(2) Also the assets of the candidates should be made public.
(3) The candidates should not engage in discriminating others on basis of caste, language, etc
(4) Also should not resort to corruption practices.
(5) A candidate shall be held liable for use of hate speech.
(6) It promoted the morality of free and fair elections among candidates.
