Main Body

A) Indian monsoons are a characteristic feature of Indian geography which India would probably be a subtropical desert. It is a lifeline for Indian geography and save with over 80% agriculture dependent on it.

Features of Indian Monsoon:

1Periodic/Seasonal winds – Winds that blow direction i) Winds

SW Monsoon – bring it in summer season (June-May)

NE Monsoon – Monsoon spread (329) & Rainfall

2Precipitation in timing of onset and with drawl of monsoons – First hit Kasala lead around May 2nd week.
3Monsoon break – led to days break in precipitation
4Temporal and spaced variability – Change from time to time and space to space
5Global teleconnection – ALMINO, which shall see ahead.

Causative factors of monsoons:

1Thermal heat gradient – leads to inter-tropical low pressure area
2High pressure over Mascarene – Westerlies over lower latitudes in summer
3Subtropical westerly jet stream also shifts north of Himalayas in summer development of ITC established
4Global teleconnection – leads to promise of AE-Nino, La Nina → leads to pronounce declines in Indian Ocean → lower should of Mascarene high, weaker monsoons.
5Indian Clear Dipole Temptation difference between Eastern and Western – positive → more monsoon. Thus, Indian monsoon is highly variable, even determined largely by geographic factors, The altimeter effect system also help with all cut local products upto 6 km elevation.
