Economic - Reduce input needs for farmers, can ensure dryland farming (>50% of India's net sown area). Nutritional - Coarse grainsnutrifact is both micro and macronutrients. Irony of Adoption: Demand Side issues - Lack of preference due to coarse nature, Rising urban population and preferences towards jast food, low millet based cafe or restaurant undertaking it. Supply side issues - Lack of guaranteed procurement under MSP despite high support price, low yield of millet compared to wheat price, lack of expertise in all facets of millet production. Policy side issues - loss research on millets by ICAR
