India & Afghanistan has had historic & cultural significance based on the Gandhar - Bharat Sambandha. Its geostrategic significance has made India to chore pragmatism in its relations.

Geostategic significance:

1Affinity to central Asia & Europe, the nrth land, making it important for trade for India.
2India's connectivity to Europe by INSTC corridor and Atagabad agreement requires astable Afghanistan.
3Part of India's 'extended neighbourhood Policy'.
4Important for India as a balance and leverage on Pakistan. (EF) Border dispute between Afghanistan & Pakistan.
