The United Disobedience Movement began in 1930's due to culmination effect of large number of factors.

Events leading upto CDM:

(i) Grossing discontent post World War I due to rising prices, unemployment etc.

(ii) Repressive colonial level like Public Safety Bill (1928), ordinance on conditions of

(i) Nehru Conspiracy

(iii) Appointment of Simon Commission without any Indian representation & death of Lala Lajpat Rai

Colonial governments expected rejection of demand for self-rule.

(i) Lord Irwin's Decalartion about Dominion Status in future

(iv) Issues rejection of ll Caste Issues demands forwarded by Gandhi

(v) Habitual of Salt Laws

Outcomes of CDM:

(i) Ideological hardship in national movements

(ii) Burga Hajji in Chharangarh

(iii) Widespread erasing of seditious locality

(iv) Many workers resigned

(v) Gandhi-Irwin Pact - Release of all Political prisoners & Participants in Plvol Trade

(v) Widespread participation of Industrialists, Students etc.

However it also had a few setbacks:

(i) No clemency for Bhagat Singh associate

(ii) No inquiry into police excesses

(iii) Participation in RTC yielded nothing

Despite certain setbacks CDM marked a Pivotal moment in Indian struggle as it embraced the masses and asserted civil power
