Though the poverty alleviation schemes have evolved since Independence, it is still the biggest developmental hurdle for India. Explain also, throw light on possible reforms in various poverty alleviation schemes.

2 The trickle down policy of Indian government has failed to bear fruit which was followed all along.

Poor targeting of poor is another issue where the most needy are overlooked

Corruption and misappropriation of government funds by the administrators is another hurdle

Inadequate government machinery and manpower to implement the scheme on ground is another issue

Despite all these roadblock, the India has managed to pull 270 million people out of poverty between 2004- 05 to 2015- 16 and the number are decreas ing, whatever the criteria and survey one may follow

A Comprehensive approach enou passing the @capability approach of Amartya Sen should be the way ahead

Increaing use of e- governance to curb corruption in govemme nt rames is must

Bottom- up approach where the scheme are designed at grass root level should be the guiding light

the will of the government along with support of people can only achieve a India with no Poor and target of sblg!
