Main Body

Ans:

India has [huge diversity] of Soils & due to varied topography, temperature, precipitation etc. acting in a Complex way.

Effects of Temperature & precipitation

1Laterite soils: They are created due to huge rainfall and high temperature for eg: In western ghats.
2Red soils: They are located on Rain shadow areas (Low rainfall) eg: Tamil Nadu, Central highlands.
3Leaching: huge Rainfall will leach the important minerals from soil eg: Laterite soil poor in potash
4Erosion of soil: Splash, gully, rill erosions distory leveled topography eg: Ravines of chambal.

Other factors affecting Soil properties

1Tectonic/volcanic activity eg: Deccan trap created due to volcanic pressure → Black soil
2Topography: mountainous region low temperature → soils lack soil, nutrient as decomposing slow.

Soil properties are important to understand for better planning of land use & in Agriculture Crop variety etc.
