Tides are periodic movement of ocean water on earth due to gravitational force of moon and sun.

Types of Tide:
1Spring Tide - When all three (sun, earth and moon) are in a single line, the intertidal range is highest and called spring tide.
2Neap tide - When sun and moon are perpendicular to each other with respect to earth, the intertidal range is minimum. It is called Neap tide.
Tide could be:
both Diurnal - Occurring twice a day, and semiDiurnal - Occurring 4 times a day depending on the location of the place.
Difference between Tide and Waves:
Tide:
Cause → Gravitational and centrifugal forces
Effect → Affects the entire water body at different locations
Confined force (centripetal force)
Waves:
Cause → Earthquakes, and surface wind & natural nature,
Help in navigation of boat through wind direction,
Largely limited due to affect of wind
Happens as a common water body for the Earth.
Prevail even in deep ocean, but rise seen only on shores
Help in harbour movement of ships, boats etc
Periodic & affected by pool of sea as a moon
Tide and waves are both water body movements characterized by their scale & sequence.
