Main Body

Temperature Inversion refers to a phenomenon when drafts from descending, temperature starts increasing with altitude.

Condition for occurrences:

1Happen when a warm airmas overlies a cold airmass.
2Other condition vary with types of inversion.

Types of Temperature Inversion:

1Radiation Inversion - long winter nights with no cloud and wind. Heat radiated by surface overlie the cold air near the surface. → It lead to Foggy condition. → It could lead to smog formation which is pollutant harmful to health.
2Mountain-valley Inversion → At night, cold air pocket from top of mountains descend to the valley, where hot air were above, body to inversion.
Then temperature gets very cold in valley. No upping and habitation due.
2Frontal Inversion - when cold & warm front meet, the warm front is lifted above the cold man due to undercutting → Result in temperate cyclones. → Raises orce to large area.
3Advection Inversion - when a warm & air or warm plain over a cold water body of surface. → Lead to mist formation.

Inversion of temperature is a important phenomenon affecting local weather. It's predictability can improved adaptation.
