Main Body

Hybrid power plants helps to these projects which use multiplicity of sources for power generation - also as well as non-renewable sources such as solar, wind, coal, etc.

Disruption in supply of coal etc. [Diagram showing boom in hybrid plants with factors: Reduction in supply of coal etc, leverage in carbon emissions, Shift started of DISCOM, High cost of production]

Advantages of such plants:

1. Reduce emissions - caused due to use of renewable fuel such as coal.

2. Reduce lost - of overall

electricity production as incline in scale of production of solar energy, it will be cheaper than coal as per central electricity authority.

3. Reliance on coal and step non-renewable source, in short supply to reduce.

4. Harness potential of solar and wind energy in India.

5. Ensure uninterrupted supply by solar wind in day and coal in night.

Associated challenges:

1. Low adoption by Uttar Pradesh huge power plant produces due to new technology.

2. High initial cost associated with setup and installation cost of solar cells Affords on import from China.

3. Cost of solar cells Affords on import from China.

4. Battery storage technology for such plants.

There are efforts by Government which can lead to 500 AW from renewable by 2030.
