The ethnic and cultural diversity in India has always been bound by the thread of unity. Discuss the major factors that have contributed to the cultural unity of India.

India is ethnically and culturally the most diverse country in the world.

Diversity of India :

Language → 124 languages, 1652 dialects
Religion → Home to major religions (Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism)
Regional → ethnicities, traditions etc.
Cuisines → North Indian, South Indian etc.
Clothing → Kurta Pyjama, lungi/doti, Salwar suit, Saree etc.

Yet, despite difference are bound by a distinct 'oneness' spanning centuries and cutting across regions which make us 'Indians'.
