The Indian freedom movement was a collective effort from all sectors of India and in the Northeast region with its geographical distance from the mainland contributions came via both revolutionary and as support-to Indian mainstream agitations.

Contributions from Northeast Region:

Jmy Sengupta had led plantation strikes in Assam in the 1920 and had also established a parallel Government for a brief time.
Rani Gaidlineu of manipost was a scmolutionary young activist attached to the Hsaka movement. She was jailed until India's independence.
Students in Assam were very active during the civil disobedience movement and this caused retalvation from the British
