Why do traditions in our society impede change? To what extent can social legislation be instrumental in overcoming old customary practices?

Traditions impeding change - reasons: 1) Fear change seen as too studies - eg filter is sedation. 2) Seen as breaking and destabilizing Indian society - eg LCD statation. 3) Religions can disrupt our social institutions eg undercuts marriage dissimey care. 4) Breaks the dominance of the upper class and caste. Thus to cancel the vicious said effect, tradition laws used to impede the change to maintain the society as it is. 5) To overcome traditions by being in change, social legislators are fruitful as: 1) They posses power of punishment - thus making yeep follow the duties. Some social legislations overcoming traditions: 1) Protection of civil rights act 1955 bars tradition of untouchability. 2) Article 14,15,16 promotes equality among call. 3) Special Marriages act 1956 promotes union marriage, diluting religious tradition. 4) Prevention of atrocities against SC ST act protects the rights of SC ST against tradition of discrimination. 5) Supreme Court decriminalizing some sex relations. However, these social legislation have some Limitations: 1) Poor implementation by law enforcement due to caste loyalties, religious loyalties etc. 2) Misuse of the laws for vendetta - eg SC observed misuse of prevention of atrocities against SC ST act. 3) Judicial pendency leads to denial of justice & social program envisioned by these laws. 4) Reject and resistance from people upholding tradition. Way forward: 1) Social & behavioral change among people - to imbibe the social legislation. 2) Delegating power to state government for region-specific social legislation.
