According to 2011 census, there are 45 crore migrant population in India. Social disparity migration in rural households leads to job opportunities, better education & health care. Migration is a livelihood strategy with: (1) Secondary sector employment like industries, market place, etc. (2) Better economic opportunities & income of semi-skilled jobs of plumbing, electrician, etc. (3) Better education and health care for children and family: important for social mobility. (4) Rural caste hidden solely & more egalitarian urban society: urban areas are socially more equal. (5) Seasonal employment: ex Bihar people coming to punjab during harvesting season and during festivals. (6) Better Market place: ex Dairy demand are higher in urban centres therefore rural to urban migration for better demand and price.
