Briefly discuss the role of plate tectonics theory in explaining the location of volcanoes. Also, explain the catastrophic impacts of volcanoes on the surrounding region.
Main Body
Plate tectonics theory tries to explain the brunch of oceans, continents and other geographical features like volcanoes and mountains. According to plate tectonic theory earth crust is divided into different plates that are floating on the mantle or otherwhere and move around due to the convective currents in the otherwhere. Plates contain both continental and oceanic crust and they move and each other and joined to each other by plate boundaries namely convergent boundaries, divergent boundaries and transform boundaries. The movement of plates in due to transcendental forces at magma in the otherwhere at the earth.
