Changes in Marriage: (1) Seen as companionship from sacrament (2) Dilution in sacredness of marriage (3) Seen as a social than a religious institution (4) Rising desertion & divorces (5) Empowerment of women led to delay in marriage & family planning. Changes in Family: (1) Breakdown of joint family system (2) Nuclearisation of family (3) Fragmentation of land (4) Family way a unit of production, now it has been converted to unit at consumption. (5) Deceased role of grand parents in children's life (6) Increased isolation between family members (7) Role of State & Market: (9) Urbanisation increases cost of living, people have small families (2) Migration- people migrate with only close family members

Not everything new must be accepted, but everything old must be thrown away
