Border Security Force is one of the Central Armed Police Force under Ministry of Home Affairs responsible for securing the border with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The central government has increased the jurisdiction of the forces to cover 50km area from the border in Indian territory in states of Punjab and West Bengal.

Necessity of such action:

Increased instances of terrorist infiltration along PK border

Use of drones for arms and drugs smuggling in border villages

Improve the operational capabilities of Police forces (CAPF).

Reduce the incidences of violence and maintain internal security
