Philosophical thought of India owes its origin to both North as well as to South India.

Buddha preached non-attachment. Kabar preached the philosophy of harmony and brotherhood. Guru Nanak preached equality. Mahavira preached asutya, ahimsa. Tulsidas, Ramadas, Ramananda, Meerabai preached devotion to God. Sufi saints like Mbd Chisht, Nizamuddin, Aulla preached 'Oneness of being'.
Adi sankararacya gave advvata (non-dualtve) philosophy - Atman and Brahma are one. Ramanuja gave Vishistha-advalta and preached equality. Tharuvalluvar preached the philosophy of oneness. Thus, the fabric of Indian philosophical thought is a combination of North as well as South Indian elements.
