NCM democratized India's freedom struggle
1It saw the biggest muslim participation than any other movement of the Indian Freedom struggle.
2It saw participation from a wide section of the Indian society including peasants, students etc.
3The movement was characterised by a feeling of Hindu-Muslim unity.
The NCM thus democratized the freedom struggle by expanding the participation, bringing muslims in and forging Hindu-Muslim unity.
Inherent limitations in NCM
1It had violent streaks at some places.
2The withdrawal of the movement antagonised the muslims.
3It did not see wide scale participation of zamindars, women, princely states etc.
4Though many students left government institutions, this could not be sustained for long.
Rising greater violence triggered by the Chauri-Chaura incident. Gandhiji recalled the movement after 2 years in 1922.
