Seismic waves generate as a result of release of energy inside the Crust, due to movement and pulverisation of rocks.

8 types of waves:

P waves (travels through solids & liquids)
S waves (travels only through solids)

Details about Earth's Interior:

1Crust => Lithosphere => P waves ravel & S waves travel through lithosphere => Presence of solid crust.
2Heterosphere => S waves disappear & mapped after 900 km => Indicates existence of molten magnetic layer.
3Core => Consists of outer & inner core. Outer core is

(ii) Inner core => P-waves move towards core, with increased velocity => Indicates presence of solid inner core, dense (NIFE). P-wave swaves.
