Introduction

Geomorphic cause & demudating activities of departed & displaced landscape, while certain geomorphic agents cause diagnostic set shifts, others may lead to swift orographic uplift.

Main Body

Geomorphic agents & their imprints on landforms through various processes. Water, wind, and glacial actions form distinctive landforms. Landforms formed by glacial action: (1) Glacial trough/s - Glacial troughs as trough through ravine movement of ice creates. (2) Aretes - It is the pale of mountains caused by glacial erosion on three or some sides. It occurs in the form of shift grade. (3) Cirque - High eroding & trenching by a glacier caused depressive cirques, which get filled with water over time, forming cirque or tarn lake.

Detailed descriptions of glacial landforms: (2) Arete -> It is the pale of mountains caused by glacial erosion on three or some sides. It occurs in the form of shift grade. (3) Cirque -> High eroding & trenching by a glacier caused depressive cirques, which get filled with water (over time) forming cirque or tarn lake. (4) Fjorde -> Fjords are created by glaciers & broken coasts. (eg) form on the eastern landscape of Norwegian landscape (eg) Norway, Sweden. (5) Hanging valleys -> U-shaped valleys are created & formed on the left side as a result due to glacial action. They seem to be hanging over the valley. Depositional landforms: (1) Moraine -> ore the deposition of material carried by glacier. * Tossed moraine - ore found on the two sides. * Medial moraine - ore found on the middle of glacier movement.

6Drumlins -> one small hills towered due to deposition of coarse material & their but left to understand the direction of glacial movement. (3) Eskers - There are ridges formed by sediment bowels by glaciers. Significance of glacial landforms: Picturesque landscape leading to "ecological tourism". Profits provided place for boat harbours -> aiding in navigation. Mineral resources -> mountains through processes of plucking & abrasion, bring vessels to lowest areas. Large lakes -> Provide water-sheds.

Conclusion

Due to climate change, glaciers are experiencing widespread reduction, acting as "positive climate forcing", knowing unless affect on life of smaller developing nations.

Diagram

Hierarchical structure showing geomorphic agents (water, wind, Arctic, glacial, wave) and their effects on landforms (stacks, rock cut platforms, glacial valleys, bogies, etc.)

  • provides systematic classification of geomorphic agents
  • includes diagram showing relationships
  • covers major glacial landforms
